FC UKRAINE UNITED SQUEAK THROUGH TO CSL SEMIFINALS


Top team FC Ukraine United was favoured to win their CSL Championship quarterfinal playoff game on Sunday came through as expected.

But it was tough going for Ukraine United at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke as the First Division title winner eked out a penalty kicks win over Brantford Galaxy (8th in the league table) after going scoreless for 90 minutes, then 30 minutes of overtime. Ukraine United eliminated the Galaxy 7-6 from the spot.

From the first minutes of the game Ukrainians had complete control of the game and continued to press Brantford in their half for whole 120 minutes but we're unable to capitalize on numerous opportunities. Ukraine United lost defender Ivan Kucherenko who was ejected following a second caution during extra time.

FC Ukraine United will now host Scarborough SC and FC Vorkuta will be at home to SC Waterloo in the semifinals, to be played the weekend October 5 – 7.

Next game will be a semifinal playoff game, FC Ukraine United will play at home ground Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke against Scarborough SC on Sunday, October 7th, kick-off 14:00.
